The mentor featured this month is David G. Wood, Esq, the founder of Plan Right Law, a boutique asset protection law firm with two offices in the Salt Lake City metro area. Plan Right Law helps clients, particularly small business owners, protect their families, property and resources, and leave a meaningful legacy. David is a member of the Utah and Idaho Bar Associations. He belongs to the Bar’s Corporate Counsel, Business Law, and Estate Planning sections, and is a member of the Salt Lake Estate Planning Council and Lawyers With Purpose. He earned his Certified Medicaid Planner designation in 2019. David has established businesses in Hong Kong, China, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Barbados, Mexico, and Nepal. He has served as corporate counsel to several small businesses. He has also served as chair and on the board of two 501c3 non-profits. For over 12 years he ran an award-winning collections and recoveries firm with multiple offices and 75+ employees. His clients included major financial institutions and telecommunications companies.

In this roundtable, David will cover:

• How he successfully transitioned his practice from a collections and finance firm to a thriving estate and business planning practice
• Each step he took to implement what he learned from LWP, including how to hire a small team and projecting how each step would prepare the firm for future growth
• The importance of networking within LWP, leading to connections that have turned into ongoing firm and client relationships

Zoom calls will be scheduled for 60 minutes and are open format so participants can discuss a range of relevant topics, identify solutions to challenges and roadblocks, and benefit from the collaboration of your fellow attorneys in the LWP community.
